Erina looked up when she felt his fingers brush against her cheeks. Eyes filled with confusion and sadness, she stared back into his. She disregarded whatever words he might have spoken and just gazed into his eyes; that would suffice, for now. Her hands were in his, and she was looking up at him.
Breaking the long silence, she forced her hands out of his and raised them, fingers gently brushing against his cheek, the scratch. She then reached into her pocket, taking out dark-shaded bandage. "Hmm... here." Her voice was still weak, but nevertheless, Erina placed the item in his hand, avoiding his gaze once more.
"Ye know... my mother did this to me," she spoke, looking up at him, lips curving into the weakest of smirks. She leaned against him, head resting against his chest. "Have you ever had a girlfriend?" she questioned, not bothering to look up.
This was what she needed.

Kellin got what he asked for. A response. A grin crossed his face and he emitted a groan. "Thanks." He said in a faint, hurt voice. How could a little scratch hurt that bad. He took the bandage and peeled it off of the strips but was unsure where to put it. He ran his hand down her cheek and to her chin, cupping it.
"A little help, dear?" He asked her lovingly as he handed the bandage for her to put on the scratch. "I wonder how it's like, your mother being there for you... how does it feel to have a mother?" His voice was faint as he tried his best to remember his mother's face. He could never forget but he could never remember clearly. Everything about her was a question, everything about him was a problem. He never did find out about his kind, his mother wasn't there to explain what or who they were. He had never had an understanding of himself.
He was silent for a while, he didn't mind Erina's question. He didn't really know what to feel about it. 'Why was she interested?' He didn't answer. He didn't know what to answer because his answer was a question.
"Serious ones or just for the heck of it ones?"
He sounded like a jerk and hated himself for being one and thinking that way.

Erina stared at him at a moment. "Sure," she mumbled, taking the bandage and placing it against the scratch, careful not to but the restraints against his cheek; they were cold, and whilst Erina had gotten used it, they still managed to send shivers up her spine every now and then. Nevertheless, she always did her best to disregard them.
"It can be nice, knowing that someone will always be there for you, worrying about you when you're one minute late, asking whomever they can to find out why... Treat you with love and affection, hold you and care for you." Her voice was no more audible than his. "If you have one like mine, they'll really make your life a living hell," she added bitterly. She wished that her mother would have left her. No matter how aloof and uncaring as her father appeared to be, she'd rather it over her mother.
Anything was better than her mother.
She giggled at his answer. "Serious ones, Kel,"

The bandage stood out from his face, it was noticeable even from a far. He was not used to getting his face bruised, although he had gotten into a number of them back home. But never here in Styrewood, he got respect here. He got trust here.
Kellin noticed Erina's slight shivers and placed an arm around her. "My arms might not look like they're of any use but I can help you warm up, if you'd like." He didn't close his arm around her fully, she might not be that comfortable.
He wondered about what she meant... about her mother giving her hell. 'I'd be alright with that.' He thought to himself as he stroke her head, fiddling with the strands of her hair as it went through his fingers. "Being overly protective? You should see how my dad is."
He wanted care not just protection. He wanted love, a mother's love not just a memory of it.
A smirk formed on his face, he chuckled and it slowly turned to a laugh. "What do you think, sweetheart?"
He gave her another signature wink.

Erina cringed when he wrapped an arm around her, but nevertheless didn't step away.
She closed her eyes as he petted her head, relaxing and leaning against him once more; warmth and care were exactly what she needed at the moment, and being her exhausted self, she took the liberty of trusting him. "Not quite..." she mumbled; she didn't intend to explain unless he asked her to. All the same, not quite was probably quite the understatement; if anything, her mother was the exact opposite. Whilst she may have -apparently- wanted to confine Erina to protect her, she thought of it as a mere excuse.
She knew that her mother hated her and was disgusted by her; she also knew that her mother thought she could hide the hatred from the god she apparently worshipped.
"I'm wondering why I asked; who'd be interested in someone that bothers to straighten his hair and wear clothes," she joked.

He held her closer to his chest now. Thinking it was alright now, that she was comfortable in their position. He didn't feel her cringe, all he thought about was protecting her from the cold.
He looked down at her, still caressing her "Would it be alright to know why?" His tone was unsure but careful. If she refused then, it wasn't the time. He can wait to get to know her. It's not easy to open up to someone you've just met in a forest on December, someone who had gotten into your space and exchanged a kiss with you for no reason or feeling involved.
Kellin laughed at Erina's statement. "I've gone shirtless around girls. My hair, is my crowning glory, it frames my face. It makes me look decent when its straightened down like that. It's the closest thing that girls consider 'hot' without me having to take my clothes off."

Her fingers gently traced lines against his shirt as he continued to caress her; it was so calming. It was also warming, especially to someone who was wearing a mere tank-top because of the convenience.
Erina remained silent a moment, considering her answer. "She was, um, religious; since I, a mammalian halfling, turned out be dog-influenced, I never got to see her good -if that even exists. I dunno, something about me being unholy. So, when my dad left, she didn't hold back... she put the restraints on me. And then I did my best to give everyone an actual reason to keep them..." Her cheeks burned a bright red, but she assumed that he wouldn't be able see them. She had never really told anyone, and if she did -as she just had- she tried to keep it short; avoid any other nasty details.
"So you straighten your hair so that others are pleased and satisfied by it; you also don't mind the fact that you're being judged by appearance... ?" she blurted out, not hesitating the slightest until she came to end the statement.

He didn't think about it. He took off his jacket and covered her with it. His arms were exposed, his fingernails were turning violet. "Long sleeves..." He muttered, his voice shaking and his breath was visible.
Kellin understood how it was being seen as a freak although not from his human dad. His relatives practically hated him and his father was an embarrassment and a cheat. His eyebrows furrowed as he remembered their faces. They were the demons, not him, not his mother and his father was completely innocent.
"Religion... it's judgmental." It was the only thing he could say. He was too preoccupied by the things he remembered. He needed something to jolt him back to reality. He wanted something to make him forget about remembering those memories.
Kellin glared at her. He wasn't letting others control him. He does what he likes. "I don't plan on pleasing people. They just like me for me. Just like I like how frank you are and we always get into bull fights. I don't want you to change that."

Erina purred -ever so slightly- when the jacket was placed on her. At that moment, she hadn't acknowledged his shaky voice.
"Yeah... but you should've seen some of the pranks me and a couple of friends did; she was sooo frightened; shaking and muttering prayers," she grinned, looking up at him; a wide smile was placed upon her lips and wild enthusiasm was in her eyes. There was no need to mention the consequences: she never cared about the consequences.
Of course, it was only then that she realized that he was cold -very cold. She stared at him a moment, but nevertheless remained silent.
A blush crossed her cheeks once more. Really? Someone that liked her blunt honesty? It was that that got her into most of her brawls and fights. "How does your hair look when it isn't straightened?" she inquired, a question perhaps too random for her to be even avoiding the compliment. All the same, she wasn't going to thank him; what was the point of doing that?
"Weren't we going to make a fire?" she reminded, especially taking note of his paling skin and shaky voice. It just wasn't fair for her to be warm whilst he -right next to her- has to suffer December's chills.

Kellin smiled at her, how adorable she was purring although his bestial was a dog and that confused him, he was glad she was warm. "Didn't know dogs purred, I know they wag their tails when they're contented.
He remembered his friends, a happy thought replacing the ugly ones. "You're making me feel homesick." He pouted but he was starting to feel sick due to the cold. He sniffled a little, wiping his nose that was turning red along with his cheeks.
Her question was difficult to answer, he had to show it to her. "Like so..." He gathered some snow, rubbed them on his hands and dampened his hair with it. He took her hands and ran them on his hair until it was all over the place. He had never let anyone touch his hair, or rather mess it up.
Some sticks were surrounding them, he started to gather them and pile them up beside him.

Erina giggled, "I don't have a tail, yet." Normally, she would be embarrassed, but she felt ever so slightly more comfortable around him than others.
"Aww... I'm sorry," she said, though sarcastic sounding more-or-less sincere. If he were to get sick she was certainly the one to blame, but he was the one that intruded when they first met (even though she didn't own the fields) and it was his choice to abandon his precious jacket and give it to her. Nevertheless, she didn't mind; of course she didn't.
She pouted slightly when he let go of her, though was quick to wipe off the expression when she realized it. "You look nice," she smiled, carelessly wiping off some of the snow against his jacket.
She watched as he gathered the wood. "D'ya Have matches, a lighter?" she asked despite of the fact that she had a lighter in her pocket.

Kellin chuckled "Wonder how you look like when you're transformed." He was picturing a red furred poodle. Although he's sure she wouldn't be a poodle. That wasn't right.
He pouted and crossed his arms but held Erina back. It was too cold to let go of his only heat source, that being body temperature. He tightened his hug even more than how he held her before.
He smirked at her "compliment". "You haven't seen me in the morning. Thanks for the uh...compliment." He snorted and rolled his eyes. She was being nice, he looked like a mess now and he knows it but it was unlikely of him to not care.
He rolled his eyes at her question. "If I did, I'd be warm by now..." He remembered the cigarettes in the inside pocket of his jacket. He didn't go through he hadn't gone through his winter clothes since he got back home and just packed them all in his bags without inspecting the pockets. He even found a pair of holed socks when he unpacked.

"You said I was frank, remember? Do I look like I'll make an exception to you?" she reassured him, noting his eye roll. Erina certainly expected to be taken seriously when she acted nice. And he did look nice; better than he did with his hair straightened, anyways.
She remained silent a moment, thinking; she didn't want to use her lighter, but nevertheless, she did feel bad for taking his jacket (even though he gave it to her) She slipped her hand into her pocket, just barely managing to pull the out the lighter. "Would this suffice, Kel?" she said, flashing the item to him. She certainly didn't smoke, but carrying one was useful; same way having a knife on you 24/7 was.
She fiddled with her hair, twisting and curving strands; she even made a braid. Why? Because at the moment, he was busy trying to make a fire and she was just standing there. What else was there to do?

Kellin smirked and shook his head "Of course not. Children never lie." He kidded as he organized the sticks into a neat pile. "What's your deal with my hair anyway? He noticed her great interest in it...and his clothes off.
'Awkward.'
"Woah, ok. What's a fourteen year old girl... I'm guessing your fourteen, anyway... what are you doing with a lighter around? One more thing, why are you interested in the undressed me??? She's frank enough, she'll answer them all for sure. He was eager, and if she answered his questions he'd be welcome to answer any of hers.
He took the lighter from her and used it to start the fire. He'd smoke one stick, just one and that's it. But she had the jacket, he was eyeing it and the lighter. Would she tell on him, judging from the story she told earlier she won't. It's a risk, his whole life was a risk. What's stopping him now?

Erina glared at him a moment, unnerved by his statement. Nevertheless, she disregarded it. "Your hair? I'm just saying that it looks better when you don't straighten it; you also end up saving time," she answered, ending her answer with a nod.
Another question? She didn't take note of his comment regarding her age -as it was true- and instead onto considering her reply. "Why not carry a lighter? A lot of kids younger than me smoke -not that I do. Smoking's bad for your health and pollutes the air; it's very displeasing to those around you, just as well. I hope you weren't assuming that," she started, despite the nature of her sentences not looking the least bit angry.
"For defending myself," she added, actually giving him an answer. "Undressed you?" she tilted her head to one side, eying him with sheer confusion. It took a moment for her to understand why he'd assumed that. "Oh... I dunno... Curious, I guess?" she said, still somewhat unsure. Nevertheless, it was probably as honest as her answer would get given that she wasn't that sure about it.
"What?" she asked, noting the way that he was looking at her, well, his jacket.
