Kellin rolled his eyes and glanced at the restraints then at Erina. He assured her of something. "Well that apology came from the heart." He said with disappointment in his tone. So many questions were already running in his mind, they could set up a little campfire just until the sun goes down. It would make a good setting for a little story telling.
He wanted to pinch her cheeks so bad when she giggled. She looked adorable, but he restrained himself. He balled his fists and started cranking his knuckles instead.
Once she talked about the kiss he snorted and laughed so loud, he hit his head on the trunk of the tree but still continued his laughter. "Oh, please. It was like my little sister kissed me, if I even had one I bet that's how it would feel. I know we're better off as friends, maybe acquaintances in your point of view." He shrugged and wanted to laugh again as he thought about the kiss once more.
"Warming up to me I see... Eri? Ina? Rina?" He didn't really know what to call her, so much names can come from such a short name. He pulled her up by the shoulders and slowly let go of her, ready to catch her fall.
"Want to go set up a little fire to warm us up and maybe share some stories?" He was starting to feel cold too, that kiss certainly didn't heat things up, he thought.

Erina raised her eyebrow at his reply, noting his tone. Did she really appear that displeased about what he had done for him to bother with a genuine apology? Well, aside from the curses and her resistance, she didn't appear that upset about it, right? "Ay, don't worry about it; I don't care if your apology came from the heart, the mind, or your foot. Let it go, hm?" she said, lips curving into a weak smile. Her tone, surprisingly, was actually somewhat sincere.
The girl smirked as she watched him laugh, not feeling offended in the slightest by his statement. "Friends, I guess," she suggested, shrugging her shoulders. When it came to her it was really either friend or foe, given her attitude.
Erina took her time with answering his question, balancing herself against the tree trunk as she pulled her knees to her chest, now sitting in a ball-like position that only made her look even smaller. This action in itself meant that she was starting to become somewhat comfortable around him, given that she didn't enjoy shrinking herself or appearing any weaker than she looked. But, at the moment, she preferred being comfortable. "Um, I guess you can call me Riri," she replied, recalling a nickname that she had used when she was younger.
"Yeah, sure," she said, eyes lighting up at the thought of warmth. Sharing stories had never been necessarily unappealing; most of the halflings that attended Styrewood had as messed up of a childhood as she did

"Alright then Riri... I really want to pinch those cheeks now." Kellin restrained himself from this by tucking his hands inside his jeans pocket. He found her way too adorable, he wasn't used to hanging out with kids her age. Although Erina didn't seem like a kid anymore, it's like she was trying to be too independent for her age. Kellin wanted to find out what made this girl tick.
He smiled as she agreed to be friends. "That was nice. I thought you were going to curse or hit me again." He shrugged and run a hand through the back of his head, mouthing a 'whew' as he smoothed out his hair.
"Would you like to lead the way? Ladies first." He grinned, as he walked over to some bushes and pushed them away to uncover a path. He tilted his head motioning for Erina to enter.

Erina couldn't help but grin at the two last statements; at least he knew what to expect.
The young girl started to get up, and in one push, she was standing on her feet once more. "Oy! Wait up!" she yelled out, lunging onto him, nearly pulling him off balance. Nearly. "I never lead, got that?" she whispered, somewhat visciously. All the same, she comfortably sat on his back, her touch somewhat gentle, which was unsual.
It was odd, her behavior, at times. Whilst she desired to be independant and hated relying on others, she didn't mind doing the opposite at times. Just as well, she had to display some positive emotion, right? Otherwise, that would mean that her mother was able to destroy anything that was good about her. Sure, Erina Layl was extremely rough around the edges, but at times she wanted to be the girl she was before her mother had placed the restraints: cute, bubbly, and cuddly.
At the moment, she was smiling weakly, fiddling with Kellin's hair. The once straight strands were now twisted and curled.

Kellin snickered as she caught up. "Woah!" He almost stumbled when Erina jumped on his back.
He took a deep breath and heaved her up on his back some more. It was like carrying an empty backpack, although his grip on her legs kept slipping. "Hey kiddo, help me out here. Stop dangling your legs. He tilted his head and glared at her, his blood red eyes somewhat becoming a deeper shade as he felt her mess up his hair.
"You better put those strands back where they were, Erina." He fixed her himself but it was no use. She could fall if she didn't do it herself. 'How could we get to the forest, when it's almost night.' He thought to himself as he kept readjusting her legs. "Maybe this will work if I just slung you over my shoulder like a corpse." He was starting to get cocky, hence the morose humor. He hates to waste time and he knows this season is dangerous when it gets dark.
He was starting to get protective and this would almost always be misunderstood as bossy or cocky. Erina already trusted him to lead. He didn't want to be a disappointment.

Erina remained quiet as he struggled, snickering ever so slightly. Letting out a sigh, she continued to fiddle with his hair.
"Maybe this will work if I just slung you over my shoulder like a corpse." She shot him a glare, all the same amused. "Or I could stand on your shoulders," she replied sarcastically, smirking. Contemplating a moment, she jumped off his back, holding onto his arm as she balanced herself.
"Since you are obviously unable to carry me on your back, Kel, I'll allow you to..." she cut herself off, simply embarrassed to be even saying it. "Nyeh, b-br-" she cut herself off, again.
She stared at him a moment, a hint of red coming to her cheeks. "Bridal style! There, I said it!" she finally blurted out, eyes meeting his with both disdain and fury. She was probably going to regret this, but she didn't want to slow them down, either. She pushed her hair back, almost hitting her forehead with the restraints once more.

Kellin burst out in laughter as Erina found a solution to their problem. He kept on stomping his feet that his boot was covered with small lumps of snow once he stopped and composed himself.
He snickered before nodding and saying "Alright then, little lady. I'll grant your request." He winked and picked her up from the ground in her just as she suggested.
"Could you do me a favor and untangle those strands you've been twisting, please. I work on that everyday just so it'll stay straight. He pouted a bit as he looked up at his messed up hair. They entered the woods in silence so as not to attract attention to any animals. Kellin made a trail by kicking small stones and forming them into a straight line that will lead them back to the clearing.

Erina glared at him when he laughed, wishing that she was able to cross her arms. Instead, she waited patiently for his response.
All the same, the bestial halfling smiled ever so mischievously at the mention of the strands; his annoyance easily helped her forget what he had called her, that he had laughed and that she had blushed because of him. "What's the point of straightening your hair?" she inquired, looking up at him innocently with wide teal eyes.
"Well then, looks like we're here," she spoke, eying her surroundings. "Feel free to take charge, Kel; I'm already exhausted," she grinned. She wasn't necessarily surprised by her overly playful attitude; just because she found the need to bluntly state her independence didn't mean that she wasn't going to take advantage situations when she could. And it was true: Erina Layl was indeed exhausted.

They arrived at some part in the middle of the forest. There were still visible patches of grass. It looked very welcoming as if the forest knew it will be having visitors or in their case trespassers. 'Maybe it's a trap?' He thought to himself, not letting his worries show on his face.
"What's the point of getting dressed?" Kellin rolled his eyes as he answered Erina's question with sarcasm. He placed her down by one of the tall trees that surrounded the forest.
What Erina said made him smirk, his eyes brightened and with his smoothest voice, he asked "How'd you like me to take charge of you then?" He cupped her chin as he looked into her teal eyes. He was already thinking about him getting slapped but it will be too hilarious to give the joke up.

Erina looked around, taking baby steps when placed down. "What is the point of getting dressed, Kel?" she smirked, letting out a faint giggle.
Her eyes narrowed into a glare filled with sheer annoyance. "This, again?" she sighed, shaking her head ever so slightly before looking up at him once more. "WHO THE HECK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?!" she yelled, knocking her restraints against his cheek, roughly. It was going to hurt, going to leave a mark, and he was certainly going to stop playing this dumb game. Well, she hoped he would, anyway. She'd put in just enough strength to leave a bruise, not break his cheekbone. She wasn't that infuriated.
Recoil.
Erina nearly fell back; she had, as always, merely swung her restraints at him, and that resulted in her losing balance. It was rather hard to maintain balance with restraints around your legs and ankles, after all. Both feet on the ground once more, she eyed him cautiously. "You really are an idiot."

Kellin blushed and felt uneasy as Erina repeated his question. He felt mixed emotions as she giggled. It was adorable and at the same time feisty, just as she was. "The point is you get to show the real you without taking it off." He messed up the soft red locks on her head. Now they're all over the place. A little revenge on her messing up his hair.
"I'm Kellin Johan Quillin, Soul demon...what else do you want to know about me?" He held her restraints down to his chest. He cringed from the scratch she had made, blood didn't flow since it was too cold. But the scent of it wafted around his nose, he inhaled it. He liked the smell of blood, he didn't know why but he just did.
"Yes, I'm an idiot. Aren't we all?" He pulled himself up, dragging her along. "These restraints, they 're not just to restrain you... they're to control you too? As if there's a difference..." He rolled his eyes at the redundancy. But thought about his own controller, wondering about what Erina thought of his controller if she ever finds out what it is. Many people have been deceived by that nose ring, he smirked as he thought.

Erina hissed; she didn't know why, she just did. She had kept her mouth shut when he held her restraints, though she couldn't help herself when he came to actually mention them; he made her think about her mother, a person who had ruined her childhood and gave reason for the restraints to be actually kept. Even she had agreed to keep them; they controlled her rage and her strength, two things that she couldn't help herself from showing those around her. But then again, the fact that she actually did that meant that she wasn't as wild as she proved herself to be.
She had disregarded how he messed up her hair (as he had pushed some strands in front of her eyes) and the sarcasm, but she didn't like talking about the restraints; too many memories came with the restraints. Sheer rage filled her teal eyes, rage that -at the moment- was directed towards Kellin. All the same, the truth hurt, especially at the moment; She'd imagined what she would've done if not for the restraints, and maybe her mother was indeed right; maybe she was an unholy creature that didn't deserve to live.
The thought calmed her, ending whatever resistance she had put. Maybe she was supposed to just sit down properly and do as she was told instead of the unnecessary defiance. She fell silent, simply looking down at herself, hair over her eyes and not even caring about what he would think.

Kellin sighed as he felt the warmth of the conversation of the drop lower than the temperature. He wanted to apologize but found it better to keep silent. He did not see this coming and had no idea how he can make the conversation run its natural course again.
"Hey Riri, let's play twenty questions just to pass the time." He smiled at her and revealed her eyes, the pools of oceans you'd love to drown in. He gazed into her eyes, red staring into teal. "You go and ask me the question first. I'll answer it surely and quickly."
He waited in silence for a sound, even just a huff of breath from her. Anything to break the silence.

Erina looked up ever so slightly when he called her by her nickname, looking at him as if awaiting an order. She remained still for a moment or two, in her eyes a calmness that only someone on the verge of committing suicide could possess. The calmness of giving up. "Questions..." she mumbled, looking down once more.
Just a couple of questions... She tried to force once out her lips, maybe the usual sarcastic remark, but simply couldn't. She stood there, silently contemplating. "I sincerely apologize for whatever curses and foul words that I had said as well my improper rash actions," she spoke, voice as weak as she appeared at the moment, eyes' gaze focused on the ground. That was certainly what her mother would've told her to do, forced her to say. She was usually able to get past whatever comments people had concerning the restraints, mainly because what they said didn't force her to question herself, no, what they said usually made her enraged. Of course, she'd probably get past this over-night, hopefully. She would rather she could get back to her usual self right now, though.
While she may have looked it, crying was probably one of the least likely things to happen at the moment. "I have no right to question those that are older than me, sir,"
Maybe a slap, jab, or kick would do the trick; while she may have entered some sort of trance, Erina Layl certainly wasn't one to give up or enter depression; it was just pathetic.

'What did I do now?' Kellin thought as a frown formed on his face. He took Erina's hands into his and tried to meet her eyes. Although that was impossible since she kept hiding her face.
"That's not the Erina I met. Where did she go? This one is too formal, too boring, too serious." He pinched her cheek and smiled weakly. He regretted asking her about the restraints. Curiosity got the best of him and as usual has gotten him into trouble.
He cringed as the scratch hurt when he smiled. He didn't take it away, not until she looks up at him, not until she returns it and not until she gets back to the girl she was a while ago. "Don't make me sound so old, kid. It's just a 4 year distance." He snorted as he thought about how much older he really was.
